Various US states and cities have signed a declaration on the occasion of May 28 - Independence Day.
Houston, Washington, Oil City, Hallandale Beach, Miami, the state of Maryland, and the New York State Assembly adopted the documents.
The declarations note that in 1918, Azerbaijan established the first democratic parliamentary republic in the East and the Muslim world.
Early granting of voting rights to women, democratic values, and parliamentary traditions are highlighted.
The documents also emphasize diplomatic, strategic, energy, cultural, and educational cooperation between the US and Azerbaijan, as well as the contributions of the Azerbaijani community in the US.
