Valeri Levkov, Vice President for Infrastructure at the World Bank Group, spoke at a WUF13 event.
He stated that a strong housing sector is an engine of economic growth, accounting for about 15% of GDP.
However, the world faces a housing crisis: by 2030, nearly 3 billion people will struggle to access adequate housing.
“Approximately half of the world's population lives on less than $7 a day,” Levkov emphasized.
He called for mobilizing private capital and public policy to solve the global housing problem.
