US President Donald Trump has nominated Alexander Alden as ambassador to Azerbaijan.
Alden has been serving as Deputy Assistant Secretary in the Bureau of Conflict and Stabilization Operations at the State Department since December 2020.
Previously, as Deputy Assistant Secretary in the Bureau of European and Eurasian Affairs, he worked to strengthen US-EU ties and counter China's influence.
He also held positions as Senior Director for Emerging Technologies at the National Security Council and Director for Defense Policy.
Alden holds a Master's in Political Science from Johns Hopkins University and a Bachelor's from Southern Illinois University. He speaks Italian, Serbian, Croatian, and Bosnian.
