At the World Urban Forum (WUF13) in Baku, the role of satellite data in sustainable urban growth was discussed.
Tom De Groeve, head of the Emergency Risk Management unit at the European Commission, stated that data must be sustainable, open, and free for all in the future.
He highlighted the importance of the Copernicus program by the European Commission and the European Space Agency, which provides public services based on satellite data.
De Groeve emphasized that data is crucial for decision-making and policy formulation. Science should serve policy.
