Paramount Pictures has started work on the fourth installment of The Godfather franchise. The film will be based on the novel "Connie," set for release in 2027.
According to Associated Press, citing Random House, which acquired the novel's rights, the story of the Corleone crime clan will be told from a female perspective for the first time.
The novel is written by American author Adriana Trigiani, the first woman to write a novel based on The Godfather.
"Connie" is scheduled for publication in fall 2027. The plot centers on Constanzia (Connie) Corleone, the youngest child and only daughter of Don Vito Corleone and Carmela Corleone.
Trigiani said: "Connie is about a woman trying to find her way in a world where everything about her has already been decided."
In the original trilogy, Connie was portrayed by Talia Shire, director Francis Ford Coppola's sister.
