Matthew Perry's former assistant, Kenneth Iwamasa, has been charged with evidence tampering following the actor's death. TMZ reports citing court documents.
According to the outlet, after Perry's death, Iwamasa instructed another person to destroy evidence related to ketamine, dispose of documents, and delete digital records.
The FBI says the actor's former assistant repeatedly lied to investigators. Initially, he concealed that Perry had taken ketamine on the day of his death, later claiming the actor had hidden the vials himself. Prosecutors say these claims are false.
The statement notes that Iwamasa ordered an individual identified as "B.M." to destroy ketamine vials and syringes after Perry's death. He also ordered the destruction of a handwritten note mentioning ketamine prescription and Dr. Salvador Plasencia as a supplier.
According to the FBI, Iwamasa later confessed his actions in a phone call with intermediary Erik Fleming.
54-year-old Matthew Perry died on October 28, 2023, from acute ketamine overdose. A documentary revealed he had taken 27 additional doses of ketamine beyond his prescribed amount in the three days before his death.
