The European Union has banned meat imports from Brazil, citing non-compliance with sanitary standards. Azerbaijan, a major buyer of Brazilian meat, is now facing a dilemma.
Seller Abbas Valiyev said they sell meat at 16 manats per kilogram: "Demand is high, mainly from cafes and restaurants. Products are certified by AQTA."
Experts report a 17-18% increase in meat imports in the first four months of this year, totaling 15-16 thousand tons.
Economist Asif Ibrahimov noted: "The number of cattle has decreased. We rely on imports. Prices may rise by 10% due to the upcoming Eid al-Adha."
AQTA stated that no antibiotic residues were found in Brazilian meat imports. Imports are allowed only after confirming compliance with international standards.
