Children often lack sufficient voice in the legal system as a vulnerable group. This statement was made by Anar Bagirov, Chairman of the Azerbaijani Bar Association.
He noted that children face difficulties expressing themselves, as the system's language can be incomprehensible to them, and the psychological burden is heavy.
Bagirov emphasized that the primary duty of a lawyer is to remove these barriers: 'A lawyer must give the child confidence and be their voice when they cannot speak.'
He added that a lawyer representing a child's interests in court is not just performing a duty but shaping the child's future. The child's first impression of the legal system often depends on the lawyer's approach.
