At least 16 people have died from heatstroke in the southern Indian state of Telangana.
The state's Information Ministry reported that the situation has worsened due to abnormal heat. Authorities held an emergency meeting.
Residents are advised to avoid going out during noon. Temperatures have exceeded 45 degrees Celsius.
The Meteorological Department warned that the heatwave will continue until at least May 26.
