A former CIA officer, David Rauch, has been arrested on charges of stealing 300 gold bars worth $40 million.
According to CBS News, investigators discovered the bars at the former intelligence officer's home. Each bar weighed more than one kilogram. Authorities also seized $2 million in cash and 35 luxury watches.
Rauch is suspected not only of theft but also of receiving inflated salaries, fraudulently obtaining military leave, and providing false information about his service and education in the armed forces.
The suspect is currently in custody awaiting a court hearing scheduled for June 5 to determine pre-trial detention.
