At the WUF13 Leaders Summit, Turkmenistan's Arkadag city was showcased as a prime example of a modern "smart city".
Deryageldi Orazov, Chairman of the State Committee for Construction of Arkadag City, highlighted that this secure and innovative center was developed through deep regional analysis in a short period.
The master plan prioritized engineering, climate, nature, and ecology. The smart city model integrates digital innovations, video surveillance with emergency response, and accessibility infrastructure for people with disabilities.
Environmental protection includes solar panels, electric vehicles, and rainwater reuse systems. The project has received nearly 40 international awards, including UN-Habitat certification and a Guinness World Record for the largest gardening training with 520 participants.
