Mger Mirzoyan, suspected of plotting to assassinate Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, has been arrested.
According to Oxu.Az citing Armenian media, the Investigative Committee's press service reported the arrest.
Preliminary investigation identified one of the individuals preparing the assassination. Mirzoyan, who had been living abroad since 2024, allegedly acquired means to kill the PM as part of a group of at least four people.
The suspects bought special clothing and masks to conceal identities, collected information about the PM's locations and campaign routes, and recorded a threatening video message while wearing masks.
On May 16, they seized a video recording during a live broadcast using computer communication and published it, obstructing the pre-election campaign.
Mirzoyan has been charged under the Armenian Criminal Code with preparing murder connected to state or political activities and obstructing election campaigning by a group of persons.
