Former French Prime Minister Gabriel Attal has announced his candidacy for the 2027 presidential election.
According to BFM TV, Attal is currently the secretary general of President Emmanuel Macron's 'Renaissance' party.
Macron's term ends in May 2027, and he cannot run again having served two consecutive terms.
Attal's approval rating is currently low; polls suggest he could get about 11.5% of the vote in the first round.
