Gina Rinehart, Australia's wealthiest woman and head of mining company Hancock Prospecting, has invested over one billion dollars in SpaceX.

According to The Wall Street Journal, this investment will support Elon Musk in becoming the world's first trillionaire.

The deal marks the largest single investment by Hancock Prospecting outside of the iron ore sector.

Rinehart, 72, is ranked 60th on the Bloomberg Billionaires Index with a net worth of $36.9 billion.
