Led by Milli Majlis Speaker Sahiba Gafarova, an Azerbaijani delegation traveled to Tehran on July 3 to attend the farewell ceremony of Iran's former Supreme Leader Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei.
At Mehrabad International Airport, the delegation was welcomed by Ali Nikzad, Deputy Speaker of the Islamic Consultative Assembly, Azerbaijan's Ambassador to Iran Ali Alizade, and protocol officials.
Headed by Speaker Gafarova, the delegation participated in the farewell ceremony at the Mosallah Complex in Tehran. Gafarova met with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian and Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, offering condolences on behalf of President Ilham Aliyev.
The delegation included Deputy Prime Minister Shahin Mustafayev, Deputy Speaker Ziyafat Asgarov, Deputy Foreign Minister Samir Sharifov, and Nakhchivan Prime Minister Jabbar Musayev.
