Captain Amir Rzayev of the 'Vasily Tatishchev' ship, whose crew is mostly Azerbaijani, revealed details about the attacks in the Sea of Azov.
He said the targeted ships 'Natra' and 'Zirkon' were carrying wheat to Rostov port, not to Berdyansk or Mariupol.
The drone strikes occurred around 1 a.m., hitting the captain's and chief engineer's cabins. Some crew members jumped into the sea out of fear.
The captain noted that attacks on merchant ships are rare and shocking. The incident on June 5 left 5 dead.
