A 14-month-old baby in Australia fell into a coma after inhaling gold-colored cake dust while her mother was baking.

According to Oxu.Az, the incident was reported by News.com.au.

The mother's attention wavered for just a few seconds. During that time, the baby opened the container, removed the lid, and inhaled the food coloring. The dust turned into a paste in the lungs, completely blocking the airways.

The baby was rushed to the hospital and underwent lung surgery. Fortunately, she has regained consciousness and is on the road to recovery, but will need physical and occupational therapy.
