The family of former Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi has sold the famous Certosa villa in Sardinia to former Qatari Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Hamad bin Jassim bin Jaber Al Thani.
According to Oxu.Az, the ANSA agency reported the news citing the "Fininvest" holding company that manages the Berlusconi family's assets. Although the contract amount has not been officially disclosed, media reports indicate the villa was sold for 350 million euros. The buyer was "Constellation," a company owned by the Qatari royal family.
According to Politico, the deal was formalized through an investment structure linked to the Al Thani family and registered in Luxembourg. ANSA noted that the Sultan of Brunei also showed interest in the villa.
Certosa villa is located on the Sardinian coast overlooking the Gulf of Marinella. During Berlusconi's time, it served as a summer political residence and became a venue for receiving world leaders and foreign guests.
Plans for the villa's sale were first announced in February 2024. Potential buyers included billionaires from the UAE, Saudi Arabia, India, and the US.
It is worth noting that the villa, purchased by Berlusconi in the late 1980s, hosted such notable figures as former US President George Bush, former British Prime Minister Tony Blair, and Russian President Vladimir Putin over the years.
