According to Oxu.Az, Musk made the claim while commenting on a post on the social network "X" regarding the funding of the Wuhan Institute of Virology.
"USAID funding played a central role in the creation of COVID-19," Musk wrote.
Earlier, a user had claimed that USAID, which ceased operations in July 2025, allocated $53 million to China's Wuhan Institute of Virology.
It is worth noting that on June 12, US Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard stated that the US government supported biolaboratories working with dangerous pathogens in Ukraine and dozens of other countries. According to her, this involves over 120 biolaboratories operating in more than 30 countries.
