The US administration plans to sell hundreds of millions of dollars worth of aviation engines to Turkey, despite objections in Congress.

According to Reuters, the deal is worth over $700 million. The engines will be used in Turkey's KAAN fighter jet project.

Despite protests from some Democratic congressmen, the contract is expected to be finalized soon. This move is seen as a political gesture to Ankara ahead of the NATO summit.

US-Turkey relations remain tense due to Turkey's removal from the F-35 program and sanctions over S-400 purchases, but ties improved under Trump.
