BMW is struggling to deliver its electric crossover iX1 on time due to a shortage of 17- and 18-inch wheels.
According to Oxu.Az citing Carscoops, the company is offering customers an upgrade to more expensive 19-inch wheels.
The shortage is expected to start in June. BMW's production manager informed dealers that stock is sufficient for May but will run out in June.
The cause of the problem has not been disclosed. BMW stated that it is in contact with the supplier and needs time to resolve the issue.
Upgrading to 19-inch wheels increases the car's price by at least $2,000 and reduces range due to higher rolling resistance.
