A cargo ship has been seized near the waters of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and is currently heading towards Iran.

According to Oxu.Az, the United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) has released a statement regarding the incident.

The UKMTO reported receiving a notification about the incident occurring 38 nautical miles (approximately 70 km) northeast of Fujairah, a city in the UAE.

The shipping company's security representative stated that the vessel was seized while at anchor and is now directed towards Iran's maritime borders.

No further details have been disclosed, and investigations are ongoing.
