According to Oxu.Az citing Haber Global, after going missing on March 2, 2025, she was found four days later. Initial legal investigations have concluded.

Ece Gürel died from hypothermia and resulting acute kidney failure. While traces of medication were found in her body, there is no evidence of poisoning or other causes. No grounds for a criminal case were found.
