China claims a Dutch warship entered its territorial waters in the South China Sea. The frigate "De Ruyter" sailed through the Paracel Islands area.

China has controlled the archipelago since 1974, but Vietnam and Taiwan also claim them. Chinese Defense Ministry spokesman Zhang Shichun accused the frigate of violating territorial sovereignty and maritime security.

The Dutch Navy denies the allegations. Spokesperson Marinka Hiraldo Vos-van Kooten stated the frigate acted in accordance with international law and never entered territorial waters.
