Heavy rainstorms in northern China have caused flash floods, killing at least two people.

According to Xinhua News Agency, the incident occurred in villages near Tongliao city in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region.

The intense rainfall sharply raised the level of floodwaters. Chinese authorities said assistance has been provided to those affected.

During the summer months, heavy rains often trigger floods and destruction in many parts of China, including Beijing.
