A 39-year-old Chinese tourist has been rescued after spending a week adrift in the open sea off Hainan Island, according to HNTV.
The tourist accidentally fell into the water near Hainan Island and was unable to reach the shore. With no rescue equipment, he survived by eating small crabs. He suffered severe sunburn and dehydration, even experiencing hallucinations.
The fourth and fifth days were reportedly the most difficult. He tried to signal a passing ferry but was not noticed. Eventually, he was rescued by two fishermen near the Chengzhao area and taken to hospital.
