A cholera outbreak is spreading rapidly in northeastern Nigeria. In Borno state, 7,850 people have been infected and 74 have died.

Reuters reports, citing Doctors Without Borders, that the epidemic is a serious threat.

Officials say the outbreak is a public health emergency requiring immediate action.

Nigeria's Health Ministry confirms the epidemic has spread to 36 districts in Borno state.
