More than a thousand residents in the UK have started protests against police actions.
According to Oxu.Az, this was reported by Sky News.
It was stated that the mass action took place after the release of video footage showing law enforcement officers trying to arrest 18-year-old student Henry Nova, who had sustained knife wounds. Protesters marched through the center of Southampton to the scene of the incident. Stones and glass bottles were thrown at police officers who tried to stop the protesters. The crowd waved English and British flags.
It was noted that in early December 2025, Vikram Digwa, a representative of the local Sikh community, stabbed Henry Nova six times. Digwa claimed he was the victim of a racist attack and called the police himself. Officers arriving at the scene tried to detain Nova, but medics who arrived shortly after confirmed his death.
During the trial, Digwa's version was not confirmed. On June 1, he was sentenced to life imprisonment with the possibility of parole after 21 years. On June 2, recordings from police body cameras were made public. The footage shows officers ignoring Henry Nova's statements that he was injured and having difficulty breathing, trying to handcuff him. Law enforcement apologized for the incident and their actions, and one of the officers involved in the detention resigned. The convict's family also apologized for what happened.
