Cuba's ambassador to the UK, Ismara Vargas Walter, called US sanctions a "full-scale economic war".
According to Oxu.Az, she stated this in an interview with TASS.
"Washington's policy is not ordinary diplomatic pressure. It is a carefully prepared economic war over decades. Its ideological roots trace back to a classified memo written by US diplomat Lester Mallory in 1960," the ambassador noted.
She highlighted the devastating consequences for the Cuban population. Due to depleted oil and diesel reserves, the national power grid has collapsed, with blackouts lasting up to 22 hours a day, paralyzing hospitals, agriculture, water supply, and public transport.
