The United States has imposed new sanctions on Cuba, escalating tensions between Havana and Washington. Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel condemned the measures, calling them an illegal tightening of the blockade.
On June 5, Diaz-Canel posted on X, criticizing US threats and the Treasury Department's addition of Cuban leaders, organizations, and companies to a sanctions list. He stated that these actions intensify pressure on Cuba and harm its people.
Despite the escalating US policy, Cuban officials have declared their readiness to fight back against Washington's measures.
Notably, on June 4, Trump announced the US goal of changing Cuba's government structure. The Treasury Department then sanctioned relatives of former leader Raul Castro, including his son, grandson, and two other individuals.
