Details of the agreement between the US and Iran extending the ceasefire for 60 days have been disclosed.

According to Axios, citing an American official and sources, during this period the Strait of Hormuz will reopen and Tehran will be able to sell oil freely.

Negotiations on limiting Iran's nuclear program will also be held. Washington and Tehran will sign a memorandum of understanding for 60 days.

Under the memorandum, the Strait of Hormuz will be open without tolls, and Iran will clear mines to ensure unobstructed passage. In return, the US will lift the blockade of Iranian ports and introduce sanctions exceptions for oil sales.

The draft also includes commitments that Iran will never develop nuclear weapons, suspend uranium enrichment, and dispose of highly enriched uranium stocks. US troops will remain in the region until a final agreement is reached.

The document also calls for a halt to the war between Israel and Hezbollah in Lebanon. The White House expects remaining disagreements to be resolved within hours and the agreement to be announced on May 24.
