A Turkish court in Bodrum has sentenced Lithuanian national Andrey Kushlevich to double life imprisonment for the 2023 murders of two Russian citizens.
The verdict was delivered on May 13. The defendant pleaded not guilty and announced plans to appeal.
The court found Kushlevich guilty of intentionally killing his ex-wife Irina Dvizova and her 15-year-old daughter under aggravating circumstances. The sentence is without possibility of parole or reduction.
However, the defense lawyer argued there was insufficient evidence and the verdict was based on assumptions.
The bodies of Dvizova and her daughter were discovered on November 28, 2023, in the Icmele district, wrapped and bound, with gunshot wounds.
After the murder, the suspect discarded the weapon in a trash container and fled to Lithuania. Reports indicate a custody dispute between Dvizova and her ex-husband.
