Armenia's Anti-Corruption Committee has detained members of the "Strong Armenia" party, led by Russian businessman Samvel Karapetyan.
According to Oxu.Az, the committee posted a statement on its official website.
A special operation was conducted in the city of Alaverdi targeting individuals suspected of buying voters' votes.
"In the office of the 'Strong Armenia' party in Alaverdi, Lori region, irrefutable evidence was obtained that a responsible person, together with others, distributed bribes to voters in exchange for votes in the parliamentary election. It was determined that they disguised these payments as wages for work done at the party offices to conceal their criminal activity," the official statement said.
The committee announced that a criminal case has been opened, searches are underway, and several individuals have been detained. The exact number of detained party supporters has not been disclosed.
