American businessman and billionaire Elon Musk announced that the use of fully autonomous, driverless cars in the US could expand significantly in the near future.
According to Oxu.Az, Reuters reported citing his statement.
Speaking via video link at the "Smart Mobility Summit" in Israel, Musk noted that driverless cars without safety operators are already operating in three cities in Texas. He said that this technology may enter a wider US market within this year.
He also emphasized that the development of autonomous transport will be very rapid in the coming years.
"In five years, and certainly within ten years, about 90% of all trips will be made by cars with artificial intelligence," Musk said.
The billionaire added that human driving could become a rare activity in the future.
