Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan may run for a third consecutive term in the 2028 election, citing a special provision in the constitution.
Chief advisor Mehmet Ucum told Anadolu Agency that the election is scheduled for May 7, 2028, with a possible early date of April 16, 2028 being discussed.
While the constitution limits presidents to two terms, an exception allows a third term if parliament calls for an early election during the second term.
