The European Union will officially start membership negotiations with Ukraine and Moldova on June 15.
European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen announced on X: "All member states have agreed to open the first block of negotiations."
The first intergovernmental conference on Monday will focus on fundamental principles of the accession process.
Von der Leyen stated that the decision recognizes the determination and courage of Ukraine and Moldova in implementing reforms despite challenges.
