Finland is officially bidding farewell to the landline telephone era.
Starting July 1, the country's largest telecom operator, Elisa, will stop servicing landline phone lines.
With Telia and DNA also having made similar decisions, Finland will no longer have any major operator offering landline services.
The landline network had been operating since the late 19th century, but the rise of mobile communications drastically reduced its user base.
By early 2026, Elisa had only a few thousand active landline connections left.
