Former US beauty queen killed in Venezuela earthquake

A former US beauty queen, 23-year-old Skarlent Rodriguez, and her boyfriend Jose Castro have been confirmed dead after a powerful earthquake struck Venezuela. The couple was trapped under rubble when their apartment building collapsed.

The earthquake occurred on June 24, and the bodies were found after several days of search and rescue operations in the Catia La Mar area of La Guaira state.

The family confirmed the tragic news on their GoFundMe page, stating that the bodies were discovered side by side among the remains of their building.

Rodriguez, originally from Venezuela, won the Miss Grand Orlando 2025 pageant in the US.
