Germany's Bundeswehr has started funding the company "Swarm Biotactics". The company is developing "spy cockroaches" used for data collection.
According to Oxu.Az citing FAZ, these insects are equipped with miniature electronic devices and are controlled for intelligence purposes.
A small "backpack"-shaped system weighing a few grams is installed on the cockroaches. The system includes a camera, electrodes, and a radio module.
The electronic block sends weak signals to the insect's nervous system, allowing control of its movement and speed. Commands are given via special software.
