The rapid popularity of AI platforms like ChatGPT, Claude, and Gemini is increasing global concerns about job losses and daily life impacts. According to a Reuters analysis, former Google CEO Eric Schmidt stated that AI's impact on humanity will be greater, faster, and more significant than any previous technological innovation.
“This technology will directly affect every profession, every class, every hospital, every laboratory, every human relationship,” he said, highlighting fears about an uncertain future. The concerns are substantiated by decisions from major companies:
- Standard Chartered announced it will cut over 7,000 jobs due to AI implementation.
- Meta plans to lay off 10% of its global workforce this month.
- Amazon has cut approximately 30,000 jobs in recent months to integrate AI tools.
The most visible protest against this new world order is among US youth. A Gallup report from April shows that a significant portion of Generation Z (born 1997-2012) feels anger and fear toward AI. Only 15% of respondents view AI positively, a sharp decline from last year. The majority believe AI hinders deep learning and real creativity.
