Last night, Moscow was hit by a violent thunderstorm and heavy rain. The tropical downpour paralyzed traffic on many streets.
In just a few hours, nearly half of the monthly precipitation fell. According to Mikhail Leus, a leading expert at the Phobos weather center, the daily rainfall record from 1904 was broken.
On Sunday, 28 millimeters of precipitation was recorded. From May 18, abnormal heat is expected in the central European part of Russia. In Moscow, temperatures will reach 32°C during the week, which is 10-12°C above normal.
The heat will peak on May 20-21, potentially breaking a 130-year record.
