Israel is working on next-generation laser weapons to strike from space, Defense Minister Israel Katz announced.
The state is recruiting the best minds to achieve this strategic goal and plans to become a leader in the field.
"If we succeed, we will gain absolute superiority over our enemies in deterrence and attack capabilities," Katz said.
Israel already has the "Iron Beam" ground-based laser defense system, capable of destroying drones, rockets, and mortars.
Experts are also developing new laser weapons that can be mounted on military aircraft.
