The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) carried out an airstrike in southern Gaza overnight on June 6.
According to the IDF spokesperson, the operation aimed to neutralize a threat from a group affiliated with Hamas's military wing.
The airstrike killed Muhannad Osman Yasin Farwana, who was identified as the commander of that unit.
Israeli forces alleged that Farwana was involved in planning attacks against the Israeli military and state during the war and in recent days.
The IDF statement noted that his activities posed a direct threat to Israeli forces operating in the area, leading to the decision to carry out the airstrike.
