Turkey's Ministry of Defence has announced that an Italian SAMP-T surface-to-air missile system will be deployed at the military air base in Konya.

The decision was made under NATO's permanent defence plan to enhance the alliance's air defence capabilities.

Konya Military Air Base is one of Turkey's largest and most strategically important aviation facilities. The base is actively used for NATO exercises and various military activities.
