Following a powerful earthquake in the Philippines, Japan has issued a tsunami warning for six prefectures, leading to the evacuation of over 181,000 people.
According to NHK, evacuation measures cover Okinawa, Kochi, Ibaraki, Mie, Kagoshima, and Miyazaki prefectures. All coastal residents are advised to immediately seek safe shelters.
Giant waves are expected to affect a wide area, from the southern points to Chiba prefecture near Tokyo.
