Kyrgyzstan has officially transitioned to a 12-year education system in general schools. The government has amended relevant regulatory acts.
According to Oxu.Az citing Interfax, the first stage will be six years, the second stage three years, and the third stage three years. The total duration of education will be 12 years.
The academic year will last at least 34 weeks, with exceptions for first-graders (32 weeks) and second-graders (33 weeks). Total holidays will be at least 30 days, and summer break at least 14 weeks.
This decision aims to determine the optimal length of the academic year and rationally distribute the workload in schools.
The decision will take effect 10 days after official publication.
