Alex Saab, a Colombian-born official considered a close associate of Venezuelan leader Nicolas Maduro, has been deported to the United States months after his detention.
According to Oxu.Az, Venezuela's Migration Agency announced this on social media platform X.
The statement noted that the deportation decision was made considering Saab's involvement in various crimes in the United States. "This fact is well-known, evident, and widely covered in the media," the statement said.
Reuters reported that a US law enforcement official said Saab was detained in February during a joint operation in Caracas by US and Venezuelan officials.
