A man in Scotland was hospitalized after stepping on a scale and seeing his weight of 177 kilograms.

According to Oxu.Az, citing the Daily Record, Glasgow resident John McDonald lost 107 kg despite a doctor's warning that he wouldn't live to see 30. At age 20, weighing around 120 kg, he had prediabetes, sleep apnea, and high blood pressure.

"When I heard I might not live to 30, I realized it was a wake-up call," John said.

The journey began with shock. The scale showed 177 kg, causing severe anxiety. He was taken to the hospital, where stress exacerbated by hunger was diagnosed. John changed his diet, learned to cook from scratch, swapped sugary sodas for low-calorie drinks, and stopped ordering takeout daily.

As a result, his weight dropped to 70 kg. Apnea and hypertension disappeared. Walking to the local store, which used to take 15 minutes, now brings him joy. "If you're thinking about it, just start. It changed my life, and it can change yours too," John concluded.
