NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte has informally earned the nickname "family psychologist" for his ability to smooth over differences with US President Donald Trump.
According to Oxu.Az, Reuters reported this citing a senior diplomat who spoke on condition of anonymity.
The publication notes that the war in Iran has worsened relations between Trump and European leaders such as Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni and former UK leader Keir Starmer. These disagreements are highly likely to resurface and escalate at the summit in Ankara on July 7-8.
"I am optimistic that this will not happen because I think leaders understand what is at stake. But if it does happen, we always have our 'family psychologist' Mark Rutte to put things right," the anonymous NATO diplomat said.
