OpenAI CEO Sam Altman said that the rapid development and application of artificial intelligence will not cause a 'global labor market apocalypse' (mass unemployment).

He made these remarks while participating via video link at the Commonwealth Bank of Australia conference in Sydney.

Altman noted that contrary to his earlier expectations, AI has not yet led to major layoffs in entry-level office positions. He emphasized that despite AI playing a more active role in many areas, the 'human factor' remains irreplaceable in work processes.

The CEO shared an interesting example: he personally tried using AI to respond to Slack messages and emails but later decided to do it himself, citing the importance of live human interaction in the work environment.

In conclusion, he reiterated that a mass unemployment apocalypse is not expected in the near future, contrary to some analysts' forecasts.
